During a ceremony held at Queen's Park on April 27, 2006, Ontario Lieutenant-Governor James Bartleman presented the awards for the Ontario finalists of the 2006 Canada Day Poster Challenge. Sofia Hou, 14, from Ottawa was the first place provincial winner.

When asked to explain her design, Sofia Hou said:
"Our nation, Canada, is seen through the eyes of the people of the country as being full of diversity and beauty from sea to sea (a mari usque ad mare)."
